I work with product data, funnels, and experiments.

I’m Kevin Zhao. My current work focuses on behavioral data and the product questions around conversion and growth.

About

About the work

I like product analytics because the numbers stay close to what people actually do inside a product.

Most days are less tidy than a finished chart suggests, with funnel changes and tracking details mixed into the same piece of work. Other tasks begin with a product idea whose measure is still being worked out.

The work moves back and forth between the product flow and the data behind it. I enjoy the detailed part, because that is often where something useful turns up.

Current focus

What I work on

These are the areas I work with most often.

01

Funnels

I review conversion across key product steps and break down the paths or user groups that need a closer look.

02

Event data

I process product behavior data and organise event fields, firing rules, and measurement definitions.

03

A/B tests

I design experiments, define what to measure, and prepare the results for product iteration.

Notes

Notes on the work

I write about user growth, funnel analysis, experiment design, and the measurement details that tend to come up more than once. Keeping notes makes them easier to revisit and share.

Behavior & experimentation

Before explaining a drop, check what was measured

A note on what to inspect after a metric drops, and when an experiment can answer what historical data cannot.
